Welcome to J. Andersen Books! I’m so excited to be back for Yash this spring. I wish  I could say it was my 39th time participating, but alas, it’s only my second time. Maybe one day I’ll get there.

Today I have B. Kristin McMichael with me today to talk about her cast list.

USA Today Bestselling Author B. Kristin McMichael writes YA and clean NA paranormal fiction. Her “Night Human World” includes the YA series “The Blue Eyes Trilogy” about a midwestern girl who comes of age in a world of battling vampire clans, the “The Day Human Trilogy” that takes place among the Appalachian Sidhe fairies, “The Skinwalkers Witchling” trilogy that follows an apprentice witch in the Pacific Northwest, and “The Merworld Trilogy” set in Florida as an unsuspecting teen turns into a mermaid. She’s also the author of the NA paranormal time travel romance series “The Chalcedony Chronicles”.

B. Kristin McMichael graduated with her PhD in biology at Ohio State where she worked as a scientist before taking her passion of writing full-time. Besides writing, she enjoys chasing her kids, playing outside, and baking cookies. She lives in Ohio with her husband and three children.

Bonus Content:

For my bonus content this spring, I’m including a movie casting of The Witchling Apprentice main characters to give you an idea of how I see them as I write.

Casting The Witchling Apprentice:

Cassie (Blu Hunt) is a teenager who is part witch but with extra powers. She is part of the coven but always kept a little far away because everyone fears her except for her two best friends Whitney and Owen.

Whitney (Ellie Bamber or Kathryn Newton) is the life of the party and the reason Cassie has any fun. She is her best friend and just as much of an outsider, which makes it work even more perfect

Owen (Joe Alwyn) a wisecracking football player who is best friends with Cassie and Whitney. He is part of the popular crowd but prefers his two best friends instead.

Nate/Than (Jeremy Irvine) The town’s perfect boy- captain of the football team and the person everyone worships. Also is Cassie’s crush for forever.

Uncle John– (Javier Bardem) Cassie’s burly guardian is more than a little protective. He barely lets her leave his sight with good reason, but what teenager wants to be watched over twenty-four seven.

Aunt Maria– (Jessica Alba) Cassie’s aunt is a witch who is willing to teach Cassie more than anyone else- she’s the cool aunt that keeps Cassie involved in the witch world.

Jack- (Ezra Miller) Cassie’s witch cousin who she never knew about. She never knew her mother had a second brother, and thus never had contact with Jack.

Jared- (Brenton Thwaites) Stranger to Cassie until she gets back some important childhood memories. He’s a much larger part of her past than she ever knew.

Cassie thought magic would be her key to fitting in. She soon finds that magic isn’t the only thing kept hidden in her small community. There are other things that go bump in the night, and they all seem to want a piece of her.

Witches, potions, and magical spells—that all made sense, but men turning into animal-like monsters in the middle of the night? That had to be fiction, right? Wrong. Cassandra Booth thought her world of witches would be complete when she joined her coven. She had spent years feeling like an outcast, but that would change. She would now be one of them when she passed her apprentice exam. Little did she know, she would get more than she bargained for in the form of a mate.

High school is hard enough when you don’t fit in, but for Cassie it was worse when she passed her exam. Now everyone wants to be her friend … well, at least all the guys, the same ones that never knew she existed before. All Cassie wants is to go back to being invisible, but life is never that simple. When an old friend, now Mr. Popular, changes the game, Cassie must find a way to make her own choices. She didn’t want to join the coven to be told what to do, but that will be life. And if she can’t find a way out, the same ceremony that will bring her into the coven will take away her freedom to fall in love on her own. Yes, life is a lot more complicated than simple spells for Cassie.
