Everyone knows that in order to grow as human beings we need to continue to try new things. I did that recently. It was scary. This is my I’m skeptical about trying new things face: IMG_20151106_105158770

Here’s the deal: I want to be a successful author. I want to sell lots of books and do this writing thing full time. That means I have to stretch myself and do things I might be uncomfortable with. So after reading Rise of the Machines by Kristen Lamb, I made myself focus on Twitter and forging new relationship with readers.

Last night, my friend Kelly Martin and I did our first live author chat on Twitter. The goal: To connect with readers. We gathered ourselves in front of our computers THURSDAY NIGHT at 9 PM Eastern time  and used the hashtag #Leafypages.

And it wasn’t a total FAIL.

Did we connect with tons of readers? NO. These things take time. But we did start some good conversations. Later on in the night,Author Shannon Dittemore joined us and spurred on our conversation. For the first time ever doing something like this, I consider it a success.

I’m looking forward to next week when we get to chat again. Come join the conversation. Bring your reader friends. Use the hashtag #leafypages. We’ll be there trying new things along with you!
